Deneen Omer, Senior Principal with CSG, presented “Surviving IV&V: Real-Life Lessons Learned” to the 2008 Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) “Harmony in Music City” conference today. Ms. Omer, the former Chief Information Officer of the Illinois Department of Human Services, leads CSG’s team providing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Medicaid Modernization project. “Mission critical human services technology projects such as the acquisition of a new MMIS are highly visible, subject to significant scrutiny and carry significant risk,” says Ms. Omer. “One important way to support and enhance a project while mitigating risks associated with technology implementation efforts is through procurement of IV&V Assessment services. IV&V services can assist with Procurement and Requirements Definition, MITA Self-Assessment, Project Oversight, Requirements Definition, Design Phase, Interfaces, Software Testing and CMS Certification.” The national MMIS conference is an annual meeting for State, Federal and private sector individuals to provide them with opportunities to exchange ideas related to Medicaid systems and heath policy affected by those systems.
